Intelligence culture

Since 2012, the Agencia de Coordinación de Inteligencia y Prospectiva has promoted intelligence culture among companies, institutions and individuals, sharing how to ask good questions, evaluate sources and turn information into knowledge that supports decisions.

What we do

ACINP does not provide analysis or investigation services: it promotes intelligence culture through education, outreach and reference resources.

Education

  • A free, open basic intelligence course (in Spanish), with thirteen chapters on analytical methods.
  • Reference resources on the areas where intelligence is applied.

Outreach

  • Publications and articles on intelligence and foresight.
  • Spreading the method: questions tied to a decision, evaluated sources, tested hypotheses and conclusions that state their limits.

A responsible culture

  • A practice with a legitimate purpose, lawful means and data protection from the start.
  • A red flag prompts a review; it does not prove guilt.

AML and fraud

In anti-money laundering and fraud prevention, intelligence helps to follow the money: telling ownership from control, gross from net amounts and documented movements from assumed paths, and documenting which facts need review without turning a red flag into an accusation.

Investigations

In an investigation, intelligence helps to reconstruct what happened, in what order and on what information each statement rests: keeping the origin of every piece of data, comparing alternative explanations and deciding in advance which evidence would change the conclusion.

Cybersecurity

In a cybersecurity incident, technical information arrives in fragments: identities, addresses, devices and events with different clocks and levels of precision. Intelligence helps to connect them, build the timeline and separate what is verified from what is assumed, to explain the incident and decide the response.

Intelligence education

Our basic intelligence course (in Spanish) is free and self-guided. Three lessons cover the concepts, the intelligence cycle and data analysis with a worked example, and thirteen further chapters explain methods such as hypothesis testing, scenarios, network analysis and money tracing.

ACINP recommends it for practising the method taught in the course: organising case information, connecting people, entities and facts, placing them on a map and a timeline, and linking every conclusion to its sources.
